COVERED BY LOVE: Do Everything in Love

" And do everything in love"

-1Corinthians 16:14

The word instructing us to do everything in love remind us that there is a right and wrong way to approach things. It emphasizes that it applies to all aspects of our lives, not just specific situations. So, what does this mean for us? It means that our actions should be driven by love. Whether it's giving, partnering with others, or making decisions, there should be no hidden agenda. Rather, we should act out of genuine love, without expecting anything in return.

Do Everything In Love

Sadly, in today's society, we've come to know a diluted, perverse vision of love. Our acts of kindness are often tainted by ulterior motives, seeking personal gain. This deviates from the selfless nature of love. Love should not be conditional, but rather a desire to serve and help others without expecting anything in return. Jesus exemplified this kind of love during His time on Earth, performing miracles and speaking with love, not to boast His power, but because of His genuine love for humanity.

Let us take a moment to reflect on our actions in recent months. Can we truthfully say that all our decisions and acts were driven by love, or were there hidden motives? I ask this not to condemn, but to urge you to look inward and examine your heart; do a heart check. If we find that we have acted with ulterior motives, it is essential to realign ourselves with the example set by Jesus Christ. His teachings do not call us to help others only if it benefits us; instead, He teaches us that it is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35). My prayer for this generation is that we rediscover true love and hold it in our hearts. This will transform our actions, moving away from seeking likes and views and towards genuinely caring for one another.

Lord, we ask for your guidance in becoming more like you. Help us to love as you do. Examine our hearts, removing any selfish or self-serving motives. We desire to emulate your love, but we acknowledge that we can only do so with your grace and assistance. So, Lord, we ask for your help. Guide us in doing everything in love. In Jesus' name, amen.
