Help! They're Controlling Me!

Updated: Aug 28, 2022

Real question to self:

DO I GOVERN OTHERS? OR OTHERS ARE GOVERNING ME? Well, The mind definitely decides!

A Chinese Confucian Philosopher known by the name Mencius once said:

"Great men have their proper business and little men have their proper business ...
some labour with their minds, some labour with their strength. Those who labour with their minds govern others, those who labour with their strength are governed by others.”

When I first read this quotation, it shook me and took me by surprise, not because it was saying something that God hasn't communicated to His people, but the way it's written raw like that! There's nowhere to run from the truth that is being conveyed. The people who work with their minds in this world truly do govern and control the lives of those working with their strength. Once I read that thing, I was like, "Holy Spirit you know which side I want to be on!". We can't be out here being governed by others, God's children weren't made for this, at least I don't believe I was wired by God to be governed, but rather, to govern.

Holy Spirit brought Romans 12:2 NKJV to my remembrance, and it tells us this:

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

It is God's will that we not be governed by this world, but that we (as His children) be the ones to govern over the world through the establishment of His kingdom here on earth. That is why we are commanded to BE TRANSFORMED IN OUR MINDS.

We are not to have any type of mind. The transformation of our minds is supposed to bring us to a place where we can say and others can see that, "we have the mind of Christ" (1 Corinthians 2:16 NKJV ). After-all, who can conquer the evil wisdom of this world lest you have the highest wisdom? If perversion, hatred, pain, jealousy, deception, etc still rules your mind, it is evidence that there is much work to do in order to ensure your mind reflects that of Christ. That work will take intentionality and determination, because it will not be easy. It may even be painful once you truly start allowing the Holy Spirit to reconstruct and transform your mind, your thought processes and perspective, so that you may be able to see through the lens of Christ.

" If we find ourselves being victims to the government of this world, it is because our minds are not yet perfected into the mind of Christ "

CORRUPTION OF THE MIND MAKES US USELESS WEAPONS OR TOOLS

IN GOD'S KINGDOM

In Titus 1:15-16 NIV, the Bible tells us,

To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good

If we find ourselves being victims to the government of this world, it is because our minds are not yet perfected into the mind of Christ; we are operating by our own strength, and therefore, we remain vulnerable as the "little men" who are being governed by others. We have not yet activated the full image of God within us.

TIPS TO STRENGTHEN YOUR MIND

  1. READ: Read the Word of God & ask the Holy Spirit wisdom to understand it. The Bible is filled with God's wisdom and mysteries on how we are to live our lives in order to prosper, but unless the Holy Spirit opens our understanding, we can read without receiving any revelation.

  2. REFLECT: Search within yourself and identify the things in your lifestyle, mindset or character that do not reflect the standard of God's word for your life. Let the Word read you, let it expose you, so you can be washed and pruned by it.

  3. REPENT : Make a decision to turn away from that lifestyle, mindset or characteristic. Ask God to purge you it out of you, and help you live a new life apart from it.

  4. REPLACE : Invite the Holy Spirit to occupy that empty place with His presence, love, fruit, and will. Whenever we become delivered from something (a pattern of life), we must replace it with something better, otherwise that empty place will crave to be filled by something else, and we risk falling right back into the place we turned away from.

  5. RESTORE : Let the truth of God's Word transform your mind until it becomes your reality in thought, speech, and action. Transformation is to change from one lifestyle or mindset into another - one that is higher and better. A change that is healthy and helps you to be fruitful so that you can reflect the beauty God originally purposed for your life.

  6. REPEAT : Because we live in the world, we must continuously make the decision to submit our minds to the mind of Christ by repeating these actions over & over again. Being transformed is a process. In every season we may find ourselves being transformed by God's Word in a different area of our lives (heart, mind, emotions, attitude, speech, lifestyle, reactions, etc) because it is a continuous work of being transformed. As we surrender to the process, we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to be ones who labour and operate with the strength of our minds, and not the strength of our bodies.

We get to live a life of dominion on this earth. We get to govern systems by the Spirit of God inside of us. We get to truly live heaven on earth by not becoming subjected to the government and system of this world. I pray we will come into the fullness of the image of Christ on this earth, I pray that as God's children, we will rule and not be ruled over. In Jesus Name! Yes & Amen!

Blessings to you Apple of God's Eye!
